Congratulations to Dala Steward of Lebanon Police Department Winner of the 5th Annual Ken Davis Unsung Hero Award!

Dala Steward was the very deserving recipient of the 5th Annual Ken Davis Unsung Hero Award at the year's Summer Games in Corvallis. Dala has been dedicated to Special Olympics Oregon and Law Enforcement Torch Run for 22 years. She has contributed in so many ways, including organizing many fundraising events, supporting athletes at competitions, organizing and running the Torch Run, representing Team USA in the Final Leg in Japan and she is currently on the LETR Executive Council, serving as the Fundraising Chair. One nomination from Judy Macho, Reedsport Police Department said that the recipient "continues to motivate us all with her unconditional dedication." Another nomination turned in by Dala's Chief Mike Healey shared that 'she is very deserving of the Ken Davis Unsung Hero Award and with regards to the Special Olympics program she is, in the opinion of the Lebanon Police Department, our "unsung hero."'

In accepting the award, Dala shared these thoughts with us:

"I personally would like to say a thank you for those that voted for me and believed in me. Getting the Ken Davis award is an honor that I will cherish the rest of my life, it has a lot of meaning to me, since Ken was a personal friend to me. I hope that I show the dedication and determination that he showed. Again thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart."
